Privacy Policy for NeXsplit
Last updated: 2 October 2026
NeXsplit ("the app") is published by Next eXtraordinary Intelligence Company ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the app handles information.
We do not collect your data
- The app does not create an account. There is no sign-up, no password, and no login.
- The app never asks for your phone number, email address, postal address or date of birth. There is no field for any of them.
- The app does not connect to your bank and does not process payments. It records who owes what; it does not move money.
- The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party tracking.
- This version makes no network requests of its own. It ships with no server address, with its sharing features switched off, and with no in-app purchases. It performs no over-the-air update checks.
About the name you choose
NeXsplit asks for a nickname: a short label so you and the people in your groups can tell each other apart. Wherever a name is entered, the app tells you: "Use a nickname, not your real full name."
That is guidance, not a restriction. The app cannot tell a nickname from a real name, so nothing stops you typing one. We say so plainly because it is your choice, and because whatever you type is kept only on your device either way.
The same applies to anything else you type. Group names and expense descriptions are free text, so please avoid putting personal details in them.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you create, including your nickname, your groups and their members, the expenses and splits you record, and your settings, is stored only in local storage on your own device.
We never receive a copy, because the app never sends one.
The app also stores locally the currency and timezone a group uses, and randomly generated identifiers used to tell members apart inside the app. Those identifiers are generated on your device, are not derived from anything about you, and mean nothing outside the app.
Your phone's own backup
Your phone's own backup, Google on Android or iCloud on iPhone, may include the app's data under your own account. That is your phone's backup feature, under your control in your device settings, and it is what lets your records come back if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone.
We never receive it. It goes to your Google or Apple account, not to us, and we have no access to it.
Your device region
When you first set up the app, it reads your device's region setting to suggest a default currency. This happens entirely on the device. We do not use your IP address and we do not use your location. You can change the currency at any time.
Photos and your camera
The app never opens your photo library or your camera. There is no feature anywhere in NeXsplit that does either. Group pictures are chosen from a small set of built-in icons, and member pictures are colored initials drawn from the nickname.
Files you create yourself
The app can export a backup of your data to a file, and import one back. You create that file, it goes where you choose, and it is never sent to us. The app reads a file only when you select one.
How your data is deleted
Your data lives on your device, so:
- Uninstalling the app removes the app's copy. There is no copy anywhere else, because the app never sends one. If your phone's own backup is switched on, a copy may remain in your Google or Apple account until you remove it there, in your device or account settings.
- You can also clear data from inside the app, by resetting or deleting a group, or deleting your profile.
We hold no account and no record of you, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf, and no way for us to recover anything you delete. Please keep your own backup if your records matter to you.
Children
NeXsplit is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal data at all, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
If this changes
A future version of NeXsplit may add the ability to share a group with other people's devices. That would mean data leaving your device for the first time. If and when it does, we will update this policy and the app's store privacy disclosures before that version is released, and the change will show in the "Last updated" date above.
